DIGITALE FABRIK - Portfolio of WEIS INDUSTRIES group is convincing
29.04.2010
The task which the Flint Group entrusted to Harald Glatzl, managing director of DIGITALE FABRIK® AG, was quite challenging:
remodeling one can filling plant and one cartridge filling plant (for printing ink) efficiently and inexpensively and relocating them within the production building. Long distances, large amounts of primary packaging and the accumulated empties resulted in a huge logistical effort for the Flint Group employees in charge. With DIGITALE FABRIK® AG from Esslingen, the company found a partner who was able to handle the entire optimization of the production process from planning to reconstruction.
The extensive remodeling measures were based on a comprehensive and holistic view of the production process, from material flow to labor utilization. A complete documentation of the processes enabled the team around Harald Glatzl to identify potential areas of improvement and to develop solution scenarios. DIGITALE FABRIK® AG was put in charge of planning and coordinating the entire project – from facility planning and engineering to relocating the production line and supervising the remodeling measures on site.
When the call for tenders for the individual trades (electrical relocation ofthe plants, media supply and extraction) was issued, the WEIS companies were able to impress with their holistic concept. Thus, the project supervised by DIGITALE FABRIK® AG was also impressed by the WEIS INDUSTRIES companies KARL WENNESS® GmbH, EDMUND WEIS® GmbH & Co KG, and the division of EDMUND WEIS, LTG AEROB Systems. The success of this overall concept demonstrates the high productivity and beneficial synergy effects resulting from the consolidation of these companies. As a result of the extensive remodeling, the Flint Group project managers can now produce much more efficiently. The modified production facility enables more efficient work, optimized processes, shorter distances and thus enormous time savings. In addition, the supply of production materials is now easier and more cost-efficient.
As a very welcome sideeffect, the work environment of the employees was also improved considerably. The detailed virtual planning conducted by DIGITALE FABRIK® AG resulted in more elbow room for were able to showcase not only their planning expertise, but also their mechanical skills.
Overall, the Flint Group was very satisfied with the high-quality work of the participating WEIS INDUSTRIES companies. Complete reporting, the permanent pool of ideas, and not least of all the open and trusting communication between project managers made for a successful cooperation and very satisfying results for the customer and the service providers alike. The optimized production facility has been up and running since January 2010, thanks to the joint effort of the WEIS INDUSTRIES companies.
